You can claim if your monthly income falls below a threshold, depending on the number of people in your household. For a single person it is about 733 euros a month in 2026 It increases depending on family size and also annualy with inflation. It is designed to top up your benefit .

You can go to the PUNT LABORA office in Benidorm without an appointment. The security guard will show you what button to press on the screen to get an appointment then and there.

SICKNESS BENEFIT FOR EMPLOYEES AND EX-EMPLOYEES.
Your employer will have a Mutua organisation that handles sickness benefit. It liases between the employer and the Seguridad Social. If you loose your job while claiming sickness benefit you should go to the Mutua which your ex-employer uses. You need your termination document from the employer and also your last official six months pay slips NOMINAS.
Your employer has to cooperate to give you all the correct paperwork. It may be illegal to fire someone soley because they are off sick.
Having exhausted all sick pay usually 1 year to 18 months you may be considered for a permanent incapacity pension.
